The good the bad and the ugly

The good, a great hike at the farm.  The weather was just perfect after that cold spell the dogs had a little cabin fever and needed a good run.

 The snow just sparkled.....
 Frost touched everything....
We were able to cross the creek as it was frozen and got a beautiful view.

The bad was having to cut a part of a tree down and clean up and load up the wood and the ugly was having to dig up our septic tank to have it pumped.  Digging through the frozen ground was not alot of fun.

but later more good as I selected fabric for the February SAL.  My book came in but I was short some of the bigger pieces of fabric so had to order more.  Its lovely french general fabric that I won at Red Brolly.

I got everything cut and started the stitching so I will be ready to go when my order arrives so hopefully I won't miss the deadline.
Overall a busy but good weekend :0)
Sandy was spayed yesterday and recovering very well.

Sandy's Story

I just realized I haven't done a post about Sandy.   Here is Sandy today......a big difference from when she showed up on our front porch on the morning of hurricane Sandy, hence her name :0)

Here are the pictures of her when I found her.........
She was at the vets as she had mange.  There was no way that I could take care of her so I contacted the rescue group that I work with and asked for their help.  They found a clinic that could board her until the mange was cleared up.  She stayed there a month.  They did lots of tests on her and found that she has an autoimmune thyroid issue and has to stay on meds for the rest of her life.  She had skin issues that were secondary to the thyroid issue and could hardly walk.  Her feet were a mess and even today she will still have issues with them although not near as bad.

Here she is at our house, home from her stay at the vets.  Her coat is just starting to come in, she went almost completely bald.

This is Sandy on Christmas day.  She was finally healthy enough to come along with the rest of the gang for a hike.  Her feet still had sores so the boots helped.
This Tuesday she gets spayed.  We figure she has had a least one litter and is probably around 2-3 years old.  She is now ready for her forever family.  She is one happy dog :0)

Great weekend

We started the weekend off with a hike at the farm.

Even the cold weather doesn't keep the dogs out of the water!

Then they all crash in front of the wood stove

And once all the dogs go to bed, the old man takes over the bed :0)
I did do some stitching but forgot to take a picture, will have to later.

January SAL & TUSAL

I really wanted to make the fabric baskets but still don't have my Red home book so I made the shoe bag with a little modification to hold my dogs treats, bowl and water for our obedience classes.  I used canvas for the bag and Lynette Anderson's Lab for the front.
Reed is proudly holding his new bag :0)

Here is my TUSAL for January.  I'm only putting in my threads from any of my hand stitching.  I had to remember that it's only been 11 days so far so its really not that bad!
Happy Stitching!

FNWF

Last night was my first FNWF.  In between my husband installing our new wood stove I managed to get some stitching done.

For some reason Blogger won't let me upload any photos :0(

I worked on my SAL projects gathering fabrics and putting them in ziplock bags to keep them organized and worked on a couple of blocks from my Among the Stars Christmas quilt.

Hopefully I can share photos later..............

Ok, uploading Google chrome worked!

I'm just missing Red Home and am impatiently waiting for it :0)
So, I decided to start working on the shoe bag but making a few adjustments to re-purpose it and I made a start on the pin cushion.

Also worked on my Among the Stars quilt, really loving these blocks so far.

And and I almost forgot.......our new wood stove with our rescue Lab, which we are fostering, laying in front.  She showed up on our front porch the morning of hurricane Sandy in very rough shape and hates the cold and I don't blame her one bit, lol.
