Quiet Sunday

We started the day off with a nice hike.  The dogs have been cooped up way too much lately.  Snowy Sundays are great for baking.  The gang loves it when I make dog cookies,  I seem to have their undived attention.  You can see Jade in the background in her new sweater.  Her coat has been slow to come in since her cushings issues had started so we bought her a couple of sweaters to keep her warm.  She did join us once she realized what I had in my hand :0)

Of course I did bake some goodies for the humans as well.
Haven't done any quilting since last weekend.  I'm at the point of putting the sashing on and sewing the rows together.  I'm hoping to have something to post after Christmas.  This weekend was mostly to catch up on chores and a little painting.
We hope everyone has a Great Christmas!

Sampler quilt in progress

Its not the best picture but its a very dreary day out there and I just couldn't get the lighting right but I still wanted to share my progress with this quilt.  I'm quite pleased with how it is turning out.

There hasn't been too much else going just the normal day to day, cutting up and stacking firewood, yard cleanup, some work on the renovations and of couse playing with the dogs :0).

Belle's and Tucker's feet have healed up nicley and they are back to there old selves.

New Fabric

I'm startin a quilting class where I bought my new sewing machine.  I thought it would be a great idea to practice with my new machine with help not too far away.

This is the fabric.  I fell in love with the flower in the back and bult it from there.  Really looking forward to my first class.

This fabric is for the block of the month club.  I didn't think I'd like the gold but its growing on me.  I've got the first month done.

I'm thinking of using this format for my own large quilt at home, which sadly I've been working on for around 2 years.  My how time flies!
And last but not least my new baby.  For the little practice I've had on it, I love it so far!   Its theQuilt Expression 4.0.

Good News

Just had to share the good news on Tucker's growth we had removed from his foot.  Turns out that it is benign!!

On another foot note....(and that just came to me :0)....) Belle is doing fine since she broke her toe so badly that it had to be amputed.  It was just too fragile to pin.  The hardest part is keeping her quiet.  The lack of her toe is not slowing her down one bit.

Been too busy to do alot of posting lately but I will post about my new machine soon.

Pure....

Look what came in the mail today!
What can I say I just loved everything about the fabric....I mean really, blueberries and chocolate, who can resist??  I saw this on http://www.modabakeshop.com/ and knew I had to add this to my growing collection of fabric.

Oh and the other exciting thing is my new sewing machine just came in.  I'll post about it when I go and pick it up :0)

Vacation in SSM

We had a great vacation spending time with Chris's family in the Soo, four wheeling, hunting and relaxing.  I'm not sure who had more fun us or the dogs.
Ben loved riding in the Rhino.  He went out pretty much every day.  Both Belle and Tundra enjoyed sitting in the back of Chris' ATV, ears flapping in the wind. Saved alot of walking looking for partridges. The fall colours were great on the drive up.  We also enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with the family in town before we left.  It was great to see everyone again.

Below is a beaver dam, of course called Beaver Lake.  It is quite a large lake held back by this dam.  It was really neat to drive along it and see the water level above you.

The dogs on one of our many hikes through the forest.
and a little catch and release in the evening.

Visit to the farm

I just love being on a farm and decided it was a great time to get some more practice in with my SLR.  I am most happiest being surrounded by animals.  I don't know the names of all the animals.  This is a petting farm for kids.  Below is Goatie, those ears, probably get good reception!
Just look at that expression, loved the eye and coat colour

This calf was just fascinated with the baby goat who was steeling her food :0)
This is a miniature horse named Georgia, I just loved her eye lashes.  She is a little on the shy side so couldn't get a closeup.

River's first canoe ride

Tonight was River's first canoe ride.  It didn't fizz her at all.

She took it all in stride and thought it was great

After letting some of  the dogs out to run around and enjoy the water,
I looked out and there was Ben he had went out to see Chris and River.
Not long after River jumped out of  the boat to play with Ben.
I really thought the canoe was going to capsize.

Where to start?

A close friend challenged me to finally start my blog. Its been sitting all alone in cyber space for close to a year now. She said that if I start mine she will get back to updating hers....so here you go Renee, your turn :0)

Over time I will introduce my Lab family and I am sure the cats will want their say as well. I thought the blog would be a good idea to help keep my family & friends up to date in what is happening in our lives and its a good way to keep a journal at the same time.

Today was incredibly hot and humid so it was a great day to get some painting off the to do list and of course the job would not be complete without the help of my furry family. River tried to show me her talents for painting :0)

I ended the day making zucchini brownies. I can't think of a better way to get my veggies in!
